The Vanguard Westlake Hospital Emergency Department has been providing emergency care to the western suburbs for over eight decades. During those years the department has grown and continuously adapted to meet the needs of our changing community.
Today, we are a comprehensive department for emergency medicine, able to address a broad range of urgent care needs. From pediatrics to cardiology, from physical injuries to mental health, our physicians and nurses bring years of experience with every kind of medical emergency.
All of our physicians in the emergency department are board-eligible or board-certified in emergency medicine. Working together, our entire care team is committed to providing patients with the highest quality of care.

Fast Track
A system that treats minor ailments in 60 minutes or less - only at the Emergency Department of Vanguard Westlake Hospital.
If unexpected emergencies interrupt your summer fun, head straight to Vanguard Westlake Hospital. Our new Fast Track System lets us treat minor ailments in under an hour. And we have EDAP certification, which means we’re well equipped for pediatric emergencies. Count on our respected physicians and staff to deliver top-notch care and get you back to your life, faster.
A complete modern facility
The newly remodeled Vanguard Westlake Emergency Department is a 13,000 square foot, modern, 12-bed facility with advanced technology available to assist in diagnosing patients, monitoring progress and providing treatment.
We offer a state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system throughout the facility as well as enhanced privacy, including all private treatment areas. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Emergency Department treats an average of 20,000 patients annually.
Experienced and compassionate professionals
The Vanguard Westlake Emergency Department is staffed by caring experts — doctors and nurses who specialize in emergency medicine and who are skilled in treating patients with a wide range of conditions. This expertise comes from academic training in emergency medicine and from the invaluable benefit of experience. All of our physicians are board-certified or board-eligible in emergency medicine.
In addition to medical expertise, several of the staff members are multilingual and long-time department veterans. They’ve watched our neighborhood grow up and have seen patients through various stages of their lives. Reflective of our community, both English and Spanish are spoken in the Emergency Department. Medical Interpreters also are available to assist all non-English speaking patients.

Children need special attention when they are sick or injured. Recognized by the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC), the Vanguard Westlake Emergency Department has achieved the status of an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) and is equipped to handle our smallest patients. The department ensures that state-of-the-art emergency medical care is available for ill or injured children and adolescents, and that pediatric services are well integrated into our emergency medical services system.
