Founded in 1925, Westlake Hospital began as Proviso Hospital by the for-profit Proviso Hospital Association that identified a need for a hospital in Proviso Township. The new 80-bed hospital was dedicated May12, 1927, as Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois. Westlake Hospital is dedicated to community outreach and believes in promoting a healthier community through its participation in many free health fairs and screenings at local churches and community groups and its offering of educational programs.

Located in Melrose Park, Westlake Hospital was founded in 1925. Westlake Hospital participates in many free health fairs and screenings at local churches and community groups and provides educational programs to three local senior facilities, including Melrose Commons, Concord Place and Victory Center. The hospital also hosts four blood drives a year in conjunction with Heartland Blood Centers and sponsors two large community events hosted by the Village of Melrose Park - Taste of Melrose and HispanoFest.
In addition, Westlake Hospital sought and received a grant from theAmerican Academy of Pediatrics to offer an English/Spanish lactation clinic and parenting support group to educate new and expectant mothers and connect mothers to the appropriate community resources that can help them raise healthy children. In another community outreach effort,Westlake Hospital sought and received a three-year grant to provide hundreds of free screenings, including colonoscopy, mammography and bonedensitometry, to uninsured and underinsured of the community.
